This scheme gives all employees fantastic discounts on a range of different products from mobile phones to groceries, clothes to electrical items, and even your holidays, you can accumulate cashback online, get discount codes on the phone or order top-up cards and vouchers to use in-store. Discounts and savings will either be applied when you purchase vouchers or reloadable cards, or will be given to you as Cashback which you can then withdraw to spend on absolutely anything you want.
Child Care Vouchers
This scheme is open to all staff who have children under the age of 15 a maximum of £243 a month can be put towards the cost of registered child care by sacrificing the equivalent amount of money from your salary. Childcare vouchers are a government initiative to help working parents pay for registered childcare. The vouchers are taken from your salary before your tax and National Insurance (NI) deductions, so you could save over £900 a year. Once you’ve set up a voucher account, The Mayhew will order your childcare vouchers through payroll each month. So you’ll receive them around the same time as your pay
Cycle to Work Scheme
This scheme is open to all staff who wish to buy a bicycle to use for commuting to and from work, for part or all of their journey. This is a government sponsored scheme and payments for the bike are taken from your salary before tax and National Insurance deductions over a 12 month period. This means that you can save up to 48% on the value of your bike and cycling safety equipment. Orders can be made up to the value of £1111.11. All staff receive a basic annual leave entitlement of 25 days, raising to 26 days after 2 years, plus bank holidays.
Buy and Sell Annual Leave
On completion of two years’ service staff get the option to pay or sell up to 5 days annual leave a year in January. This is worked out pro rata for part time staff.
Extra 5 days annual leave a year if you spend it volunteering on an Animal Welfare or volunteering project
Permanent members of staff on completion of their probation period can have an extra 5 days annual leave a year if they are volunteering on an animal welfare or volunteering project, provided they complete a report and presentation to the rest of the home and have not already bought extra annual leave.
The Government requires all employers to enrol their eligible employees to a Pension Scheme. After careful and due consideration of all pension providers, The Mayhew has agreed that our chosen Pension provider is to be The Peoples Pension. All eligible staff will be enrolled onto the scheme and will contribute 1% of their earnings towards their pension. Full details are available from the accounts office.
On completion of your probation period all staff are signed up to the Simply Health cash plan. This enables you to claim some or all of the money back for various health treatments (both NHS and private) up to an annual limit. As follows:
– Dental: Check-ups, hygienist visits, x-rays, treatment like fillings and crowns
– Optical: Eye tests, prescription glasses and contact lenses
– Complementary treatments: Physiotherapy, chiropractic, chiropody/podiatry, acupuncture, osteopathy and homeopathy
– Extras: Consultations, scans, health screening and a Freephone helpline
The Mayhew will pay for eye tests for staff who regularly use VDUs and also will contribute up to £65 for employees who require glasses specifically for VDU usage. Proof from your optician will be required for this.
Employee Assistance Programme
All staff are able to use this on completion of their probation period and this gives them 24 hour a day advice on:
– Medical advice
– Eldercare advice
– Counselling- after an initial referral can receive up to 6 free face to face counselling sessions.
Low cost Veterinary Treatment
All Mayhew staff can bring their pets in for low cost veterinary treatment at The Mayhew. Charges will be 50% of our standard Mayhew price for all drugs and procedures. In addition, you will not be charged for consultations.
Please ensure that you ask consent and organise a suitable time before turning up with your pets. Consent will need to be from a member of the Theatre team.
With the exception of very large procedures when a payment plan can be arranged, all treatment and drugs need to be paid for at the time of the consultation or treatment.
Food ordered through The Home is available at cost price.
Season Ticket Loans
On completion of your probation period an Interest free season ticket loan is available to all staff and deductions will be made from the employee’s monthly pay.
10 days sick pay will be paid to staff in a rolling year. This is paid pro rata for part time staff members. Any sickness absence once staff have used their 10 days will be paid at the current Statutory Sick Pay rate subject to the 3 days qualifying period.
Uniforms are provided for all staff working within animal care and welfare and the veterinary clinic.
