Mayhew International offers veterinary training and shelter management courses to animal welfare organisations from abroad.
The Mayhew International Veterinary Training Programme is designed for veterinary personnel from overseas who are genuinely interested in promoting animal welfare in their country. We work with like-minded vets to introduce long-term programmes for the development of animal welfare in their local communities.
The Mayhew International Veterinary Training Programme was established with the aim to promote high-volume sterilisation techniques for animal welfare projects in developing countries and to encourage the advancement of animal welfare abroad through humane education.
The Training Programme covers the basics of veterinary care for cats and dogs with particular focus on the special needs of animals in a shelter environment and those living on the streets. Participants also have the chance to learn about the management and structure of an urban animal shelter and The Mayhew’s various community outreach and education programmes.
We believe that The Mayhew International Veterinary Training Programme enables these people to return to their countries with not only enhanced veterinary skills but also with a foundation in animal welfare and humane education that in time can be built upon to influence the attitudes of people to help relieve the suffering of animals all over the world.
