Hit and Run – Lucky’s Story

Four-year-old Lucky, a homeless man’s beloved Staffie, was the victim of a ruthless hit and run accident when a car ran her over and left her for dead in the road.

Lucky, who was in severe pain, was brought into The Mayhew by our Animal Welfare Officers. Our Vet Team immediately performed surgery on her broken hind leg and fractured pelvis. The Mayhew covered all of the veterinary costs as her owner was in a vulnerable situation. We also provided a collapsible cage and physio advice so that Lucky could continue her recovery with her owner.

A dog is often a homeless person’s only companion and The Mayhew works with organisations that offer support to homeless people in London. Every year our Animal Welfare Officers and Community Vet Clinic respond to hundreds of animals in need.

Please consider a donation to help us help even more animals like Lucky.
