Dog Shelter Fire – Urgent Appeal

    Urgent Appeal 26/01/2015

Mayhew International is devastated to report a serious fire at one of the shelters we work with in Moscow.

The shelter, in the south of the city, (helped via the funding of our sterilisation project with local charity Fond Dingo), which houses around 200 dogs went up in flames on Thursday, (22nd Jan).

Emergency services attended and eventually managed to bring the fire under control but the shelter areas and stores were completely destroyed.

Thankfully, workers and volunteers at the shelter pitched in to help and managed to rescue all but one of the dogs, which had run upstairs in a panic and couldn’t be reached.

    The hard job starts now.

With thick snow and temperatures far below freezing, emergency supplies are needed to cover the basics – food, water, some temporary shelter and medicines for those dogs who were on treatment.

Mayhew International has worked with this shelter for three years, neutering dogs and providing some basic supplies. Please help us give them extra assistance at this time of desperate need. Any amount you can give is hugely appreciated!

Thank you for your support and we’ll keep you updated when we have more news.
