Sky, Pearl and Leo, three defenceless puppies aged between 10 and 12 weeks old, were left out in the freezing cold and rain on Boxing Day with only cardboard for shelter.
Scared, alone and in an appalling condition, the puppies were dumped in an open box and left for dead by the side of the road. Luckily they were brought into the safety of our care just in time.
Covered with a severe lice infection and flea eggs and with swollen stomachs caused by worms, our Vet Team immediately gave them fluids, cleaned them up and treated them. Our Kennel Team settled them into a quiet kennel with plenty of food, water, warmth and comfort.
The lovable puppies began to show their individual personalities and after 12 weeks of being cared for by The Mayhew, they finally got their Christmas wish and were happily re-homed by our adoption team.
Leo, now named Mr Wuffa by his new forever family, recently sent us a photo taken on his first birthday. This now happy-go-lucky boy may never have seen this day had it not been for our intervention.
But we can’t continue our work without support from kind animal lovers like you.
