    Starving and alone

Life for a street dog is hard. Poor Sophie was found two weeks before Christmas riddled with worms near a bus stop at only 13 weeks old. For a puppy like Sophie this was a very sad start to life, but one that is all too common on the streets of Georgia.

Starving and alone, Sophie struggled to survive on the streets by begging for food from strangers, but instead of helping they were throwing stones at her to make her go away.

Sweet natured Sophie never went back to a life on the streets as she was rehomed by D.O.G, but there are more animals just like Sophie who desperately need the support from kind animal lovers like you.

Help us give more animals a second chance

Mayhew International aims to tackle animal welfare issues at the root of the problem by training overseas vets and funding the Trap, Neuter, Vaccinate and Release (TNVR) programme to control dog overpopulation. We fund and support Dog Organization Georgia (D.O.G.) who took in Sophie and rehomed her, so that more animals like her can be helped and given a second chance in life.

Mayhew International provides veterinary training for the Municipal Dog Shelter and Agrarian University Vet Clinic in Tbilisi as well as for local animal welfare groups working to raise the standards of small animal veterinary care.
