Animal Welfare Officer month: Cat Found Giving Birth at the Side of Road

The police alerted Animal Welfare Officers at The Mayhew Animal Home to a female cat who was giving birth at the side of a busy road in Willesden, North West London on 10th March.

When our welfare officers arrived on the scene brave Annie had given birth to two tiny kittens already, but she was still in labour. Annie was rushed in to our cattery and quickly settled into a quiet cabin where she gave birth to a further two kittens. After a few weeks of rest, all four kittens are healthy and doing well, as is Annie.

    4kittens

Hugh (ginger and white) is the leader of pack and first to check out what’s going on, Rebecca (calico) is the only girl of the litter and likes to pose for the camera, Fred (black and white with a bit of tabby) is a playful little boy, and Darren (grey and white) is a little shy and likes to cuddle up in a blanket. Once they were old enough they were neutered and vaccinated and went up for adoption.

All 4 kittens and mum Annie have all been happily rehomed with their new families. Find out more about out team of Animal Welfare Officers and the work that they carry out in London.
