Please Vote for us in The Charity Film Awards

Three of our videos have been nominated in The Charity Film Awards!

Our videos tell the stories of the animals in our care and allow us to share our work in animal welfare and the programmes we run with the community.  They also offer a look behind the scenes of our Animal Welfare Officers and Vet Team’s work, as well as the work of the Home’s dedicated staff to tackle the animal welfare crisis.

Read on to find out more about our three nominated videos, which you can vote for here.

    Bert and Ernie

    Bert and Ernie

Our first video up for nomination shows lovable kittens Bert and Ernie who were found abandoned in a box at only three weeks old. As they were without their mum we showed how we hand fed them, cleaned them and gave them plenty of love and attention. The video also highlighted the hard work of our volunteer foster carers who helped us to hand rear them. They both found their Happily Ever After when they were rehomed together. Watch the video here.

    Happily Rehomed

Our ‘Happily rehomed’ video is one of hope and happiness as it shows last year’s Mayhew animals living their lives to the fullest after receiving a second chance with us. The montage of pets in their forever homes includes the impressive statistics of our Adoption Team’s amazing work in rehoming these wonderful animals, with an aim to inspire more people to adopt. Watch the video here.

    Chester’s Story

The third video which has been nominated is of gentle giant Chester, who was found in appalling condition by our Animal Welfare Officers in February 2016. Though difficult to watch, the video shows Chester in very poor health before our Vet Team performed surgery. Thankfully Chester made it through; however at the time of this video being made he was not coping well in kennels so we also used the video as an appeal for Foster carers to look after him while he was waiting for his forever home. It was because of this video that a family decided to travel from Northamptonshire to London and come and see him. They fell in love with Chester and adopted him. Watch the video here.

    Please Vote For Us

The Mayhew knows the value of film and how it can bring our message to life, and as Simon Burton, founder of the Charity Film Awards, said: “In the digital age, charities’ abilities to create video content and share it to communicate their stories and messages is powerful and essential.”

The Charity Film Awards have been created to celebrate the success of film in fundraising, to increase exposure of charity films and to encourage donations for good causes. As such we hope that this award could help raise our profile, and our success in raising funds, so please vote for us.

Voting is open for the public until 30th November, so spread the word and vote for our videos today.
