Dolly’s Adventure on ITV’s This Morning

One of The Mayhew Animal Home’s adorable puppies made her TV debut on ITV’s This Morning recently and captured the hearts of presenters Phillip Schofield and Christine Bleakley.

Four-month-old Bichon/Shih Tzu cross, Dolly, and our Head of Animal Welfare, Gillian Notton, were invited down to the ITV studios as part of the daytime show’s ‘Puppy Day’ to celebrate ITV’s new show, Puppy Secrets: The First Six Months. Celebrity dog trainer and behaviourist, Louise Glazebrook, was also on hand to give viewers advice and tips on how to look after a puppy and what it involves.

Dolly was first brought into The Mayhew after her previous owner unfortunately could no longer look after her properly.

Even though the studio was overrun with cute pups of all different sizes and shapes, our Dolly wasn’t fazed and quickly became best friends with This Morning’s lovely Guide Dog puppy, Luna. She also happily mingled with celebrity guests including former Shadow Chancellor and Strictly Come Dancing star Ed Balls and his dance partner Katya Jones.

The Mayhew’s Head of Animal Welfare, Gillian Notton, said: “Dolly was an absolute star on This Morning and the presenters, staff and guests quickly fell for her charming and lovable personality. She certainly made an impression with the daytime show’s Guide Dog puppy, Luna – they couldn’t be apart for more than five seconds.”

“Being on This Morning is a great opportunity to highlight The Mayhew and all the work that we do. It also makes viewers aware of the importance of responsible pet ownership, doing your research and finding out more information on what it takes to look after an animal like Dolly.”

After all the excitement of the day, Dolly returned to The Mayhew and had a well-deserved rest. It is safe to say that this fluffy pup is certainly enjoying her new found fame.

The Mayhew’s Vet Team give all of the animals that come into our care a thorough health check, including vaccinating, neutering and flea and worming treatments. Our experienced Kennels and Cattery staff spend hours socialising and feeding them and making them comfortable and our adoption team work tirelessly to find them new homes.

Dolly has since been adopted, however if you are interested in adopting another dog or cat in our care please visit here or call 020 8962 8000.
