Life of Pikelet’s Ma Visits Mayhew

Last week (Thursday 17th August), Mayhew received a special visitor from down under, the Ma of one of the most social media famous dogs in the world.

Australian photographer and author, Calley Gibson, is the Ma of rescue staffy, Pikelet, who has become a global internet sensation thanks to his Life of Pikelet account, which has over 188k Instagram followers and over 140k likes on Facebook.

As well as making several TV and radio appearances and publishing his own book, The Extraordinary Life of Pikelet, the canine star is an ambassador for rescue dogs and with the help of his Ma also raises funds for various animal charities.

That’s why Mayhew was delighted to welcome Calley to our Home and explain more about the vital community work we do here in the UK and overseas.

Calley, who fosters rescue dogs, cats, pigs, goats and ducks, spent time having a tour of our Home and speaking with our Head Vet, Dr. Ursula Goetz, about our Community Vet Clinic, international vet training programme and work overseas.

As well as meeting some of our doggy residents, Calley also got the chance to sit in our kitten garden and meet some of our feline friends too.

Thank you to Calley for taking the time to visit us while she is in the UK for a few weeks. We hope to see Calley again very soon!
