Severe case of abandonment at The Mayhew – Kieren the Rabbit

Rabbits are one of the most neglected pets in the UK and at The Mayhew we see many unwanted, abandoned and neglected rabbits dumped on our doorstep.

Just yesterday, 14th May, halfway through Rabbit Awareness Week, five year old Kieran arrived in a terrible state: riddled with fleas, terribly matted fur, infected ears and eyes and severely overgrown nails. He’d been abandoned in a cardboard box next to rubbish in a local park.

The Mayhew vet team quickly sprung into action and Kieran is currently receiving round the clock care. He has been put on a drip for fluids, antibiotics and pain relief, but his fate is unclear.

We’ll do everything we can to get Kieran back to full health, and we will keep you updated on his progress. Please consider making a donation today to help us continue caring for animals like Kieren who need our help. Thank you.
