As part of our Christmas campaign, ‘I am NOT an Impulse Buy’, we are raising awareness of the worrying trend of pets ending up in rescue shelters due to impulse buys. Inspired by true stories, we worked with Ravensbourne University to produce our Christmas campaign video.
Jack Russell puppy, Luna was bought online on impulse. After just a few days, she was given up.
Her new owner hadn’t been given her full background and didn’t know she was suffering with highly contagious mange, so the poor puppy ended up in our care needing urgent veterinary treatment in our isolation unit.
But there are many more animals being bought on a whim, just like Luna. Help us help them find their forever home, and continue educating the community in responsible pet ownership.
In the time it takes to buy a pet online, you could donate to Mayhew and help hundreds of animals without homes.
