Last week we took in another two tiny kittens that were brought in by a member of the public who heard them meowing in a park. When he investigated where the noise was coming from, he was horrified to find each kitten tied up inside a black bin liner and dumped on a pile of rubbish.

He brought them to our Animal Welfare team in a shoe box and they were discovered just in time as they would not have lasted much longer in the searing heat. They were in an awful state; clearly very distressed, terrified and covered in their own urine. Our vet staff checked them over immediately, cleaned them up, gave them some food and put them in a nice warm cabin to settle.

One week later and little Rimini & Venezia have come on leaps and bounds and are enjoying having fun together in our kitten block. They will be neutered and vaccinated soon and will be available for adoption once they reach 12 weeks of age.

The kitten crisis is at its peak and so far this year we have found and rescued around 180 cats and kittens abandoned in boxes or discarded as rubbish. Along with Rimini and Venezia we have rescued many kittens in the couple of weeks alone: two kittens that were dumped in a box estimated to be two weeks old, two that were dumped on our doorstep in a shopping bag and we also had a litter of 8 tiny kittens approximately 4-5 weeks old left outside our door during the night.

We urgently need your help, please consider making a donation today to help us look after the cats and kittens in our care like Rimini & Venezia.

Or if you’d like to adopt a kitten or a cat, please visit our adoption page – we have lots of lovely kitties who are desperate for a new home.

    Thank you.
